He was a recipient of the prestigious Niche Award given to outstanding craftspeople in their field and has won numerous "best of show" awards for his ceramic "ladies." Fred's daughter Catherine Wiesener lives and maintains a small studio in the country near Champaign, Illinois where she teaches art at the University. She exhibits nationally and is the recipient of numerous awards for her delicate porcelain work. She has been making sculpture since the mid 90's. She always has more than one project ongoing that include sculptural objects, functional ceramics, designing and creating handmade art tile and fabricating handmade porcelain light fixtures. Catherine also takes custom orders for one of a kind completely custom art tile and porcelain light sculptures created to fit your space.
Fred and Catherine collaborate through scale drawings mailed back and forth until a consensus is reached regarding design and then executed independently and assembled collaboratively. It's always a surprise.
